Now, here’s a topic you could say a lot about! But the advice is for a blog post to be no more than 300 words because, well, it’s bad for SEO.
What is it?
SEO is all about improving traffic to your website from search engines. This doesn’t just mean increasing the amount of people that find your site on a Google search, but also the quality of people.
It’s all well and good for TagBob digital to now be on the top of a search when you put in SEO because of this blog post; but unless you are the kind of small business, charity, church or Christian network based in the UK and Europe that we are catered for, then it might not be terribly helpful.
How do you do it?
SEO is different to SEM (Search Engine Management) in that it aims to go for unpaid searches – that is ones you haven’t paid Google to bump you up on their list on.
Search engines use different methods to determine how a website gets to the top of their lists, and to help you be one of those sites you want to work with their methods.
How do Search Engines do it?
Some of the main ways search engines filter sites and order them are (as per Google):
- Meaning – language models decipher how the words entered match up to useful content.
- Relevance – are the keywords in the search on the web page, including synonyms and and related terms.
- Quality – To determine the quality of the web page it determines how interconnected it – does it show up on other pages, and does it link to a lot of other pages?
- Usability – the system looks at things such as whether there is a mobile friendly version of the site and loading speed.
- Context – your own search history, search setting, country, and location will play a big part.
